Winter Loving

[All images via Pinterest]

When the nights get darker, the days get chillier and the Christmas countdown kicks in, London truly starts to feel magical. This is my second Christmas in the city and while I will head home to the Suffolk countryside for Christmas itself, I love getting to be a part of the city countdown.

10 things that have made me happy this week...

Image
1) Fabulous fabulous Christmas celebrations with the fam, extended family and yet more family!! So.much.food.

2) A school reunion like no other. I loved 6th form and going back to see everyone in that setting was slightly strange but more over really lovely. We ended with a little bit of a pub crawl and some very good catch ups!

3) Crisp cold days. Boots, leather gloves and big cosy jumpers. It really doesn't get any better!

4) Secret santa with the girlies and making plans for years to come; I just don't think we can resist when we're all together!

5) Seeing the boy after a 3 week break. Being apart definitely makes you realise what you have and for us, living 2 minutes apart at Uni I think having breaks only makes us better.

6) Heading back to Brighton. Yes there are horrible horrible exams but its so lovely to see everyone and the stories from New Years eve are pretty unrivalled!

7) Our litre and a half bottle of Prosecco on NYE. There is something distinctly classy about drinking it out the bottle, I'm sure of it!!

8) Knowing that in 7 days I get to go home again and have a proper 10 days of chill out time. I literally cannot wait!

9) Whipping out the fur scarf. I found my favourite mink coloured faux fur scarf upon my return to uni and had forgotten quite how much I enjoy wearing it.

10) Finally getting to use my super gorgeous new bag, which I am more than a little bit in love with, purchased with some Christmas money from Daddy! I couldn't resist the lipstick either!

GBK

Thursday night was a house date night. We have all been spending far too much time in the library and decided a bit of a treat was in order so we headed to the infamous Gourmet Burger Kitchen for supper. Located in the Brighton North Laines the branch is quirky and the menu, as always, is extensive.

After a few minutes of perusing, and of course sorting out our 30% student discount code we headed to the kiosk to order. The restaurant is styled as an American diner, with the menu printed on the walls. You choose a burger and add your sides which include rosemary fries, chunky chips, grilled corn on the cob, homemade coleslaw and onion rings. While this place isn't the best it's very good and you definitely know what you're going to get!

We ordered and started with the obligatory monkey nuts and Jose ordered one of the biggest Oreo milkshakes I've ever seen and swiftly devoured it, entering a definite milkshake induced coma along the way!

The food arrived quickly and the table was filled with an array of burger combinations, chips, corn and salad, as well as sauces and salts! It was amazing!

After supper, we stepped out into the Laines and a gorgeous scene of Christmas lights. I got far far too excited and very childish at the decorations and couldn't resist a few photos. I think all this library time has just made me too excited for Christmas times: home, log fires, mummy time and food comas!

Doesn't Brighton look gorgeously wintery?

The perfect way to chill out on a midweek winters evening! And I definitely didn't complain at coming home to watch Parent Trap after, snuggled under blankets in the dark on the sofas!
