Catching a Tiger

I think I'm a little late to the game with this one but I've just discovered Lissie's album, 'Catching a Tiger'. And I love it. The whole way through. In fact, there wasn't a single track that I skipped which is an absolute rarity for me. If you haven't heard it have a listen… think dinner parties, chill out time and perfect background work music. It's definitely been getting me through my freelancing this week!

The whole album is available on Youtube here.

Beyoncé

Without warning, Beyoncé just dropped a brand new 14 track record and it comes with 17  provocative videos. BEYONCÉ, is a powerful visual album by Mrs Carter, shot from New York City to Paris and Sydney to Rio de Janeiro. The self-titled fierce feast features work from directors Terry Richardson, Hype Williams, Jonas Åkerlund and Pierre Debusschere, as well as Beyoncé herself, who also directs the installments for Rocket, Blue and Jealous. Look out for the bonus video for Grown Woman, with Kelly and Michelle, and appearances from hot models Joan Smalls and Jourdan Dunn in Yoncé. Musical collaborations come from Mr Carter, obviously and Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams plus more.

“I see music,” Beyoncé states. “It’s more than just what I hear.  When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies.  And they’re all connected to the music.”

If you haven't had time to watch the incredible videos yet check out the clips here.

'Get Lucky'

In this film, created for the 2013 CFDA Awards (Council of Fasion Designers), male models sing Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" while showcasing the collections of Thom Browne, Michael Bastian and Duckie Brown, all nominated for the CFDA's "Menswear Designer of the Year." Thom Browne took home the honor. Take the combination of the work of three of the best menswear designers, a handful of New York's most attractive models and the song of the summer and this is the result.
I was fairly disbelieving when I first came across the video a couple of days ago but it definetely made my evening. The deadpan model stances combined with the upbeat song is a fantastic juxtoposition. As a marketing technique its amazing and I love seeing the innovative campaigns and concepts that are becoming oh so necessary to get noticed, especially in industries as competitive as the fashion world.
What do you think?
