Street Feast Dalston is one of the best summer pop ups. 2 minutes from my flat, full of good food, drinks and free entry before 7pm it is a winning combination for me. The fact that BOBs Lobster has a stand, and that you can play competitions to win alcohol (buy one try and win another) further entices! Street food with a side of fun.
The venue is great with room for lots of traders and space to perch. People tend to get one dish, eat it and then wander to choose the next so seats free up quickly and there always seems to be a space to squeeze into. I'm a big fan of sitting on the upper deck, overlooking the crowds below and engaging in a little people watching! The whole place is draped in fairy lights and the roof is half covered, half opened, perfect for the temperamental British weather that we all love to chat about. It's very East London with graffiti, decorations and rusty containers but that definitely adds to the authentic atmosphere. It's not too staged as a concept, or too perfect, which it so easily could be.
Looking around is exciting, there is so much to choose from. From starters to mains to desserts and its only rude to not get more than one dish right? The Gin Store, tucked away in the corner is so worth a visit, as is the Tequila Treehouse. A party street food market, as only East London could be.
I've only visited once, despite how close it is and there is so much more that I want to try so will definitely be back. Dalston Yard is open ever Friday and Saturday night until 27th September. Its open from 5pm until midnight and entry is free before 7pm, £3 after. Go and visit!
