Within seconds freshly baked bread, smoked mackerel pate, garlic mayo and horseradish was popped onto our table by attentive waiters. The butter was served in a scallop shell. Anywhere else it would have been tacky and felt like it had fallen out of the 80s! Here it just worked.
The waiters were quick to bring perfectly chilled wine (as well as keep our glasses well topped up throughout the meal!). We went for a Pinot Grigio about halfway down the wine list and it was delicious, medium dry and just the right amount of crispness. I'd definitely recommend!
We perused the menus and were challenged by the amount of delicious sounding choices available. How I didn't find this little wonder and visit it before I graduated and left Brighton I do not know but its definitely a massive regret. There's so much more I want to try!
Between us we chose quiet a few bits from the menu - from the veggie option to the gambas - but mine was definitely the best choice. I felt like I'd won the menu game this time round! Seafood risotto: al dente aborio, huge pieces of squid, scallops, king prawns, mussels and monkfish all cooked to absolute perfection. I washed it down with wine and was more than content! I could eat this little beauty again and again…
In fact, can I go back and choose it again already please? I mean, just look at it. Risotto never looks pretty and this one was even photograph-able!
Let me know your thoughts if you have been or make a visit - I will be very jealous no doubt!
